On July 2, 2026, our class attended an orientation for our subject, knowledge management and ICT for Public Administration. The session served as an introduction to the course syllabus, grading system, policies, and expectations. It is aimed to inform students about the topics to be discussed throughout the semester.
The orientation included the introduction of the instructor, his background studies, how he became an instructor of this specific subject, and the challenges he faced throughout his career. Sir Baroro then introduced the basics about the topics to be expected for the semester. The topics are about how there is a system structure where data is organized in a systematic process to allow smooth progress in government work, it also involved the management of data and how it should be disseminated to the public. He also mentioned the involvement of artificial intelligence in further studies.
Furthermore, Sir Baroro, reminded us of the Institution’s Mission and vision and how it should be integrated to the development of the students through the subject. The session also talked about rules, where the instructor reminded us that there is no due date for every activity, that there are no strict deadlines to be imposed throughout the semester. He said that, while there are no strict rules of passing activities on time, it should also be the students’ responsibility and accountability to pass the activity regardless of the date. It is to let the students learn the value of tending to one’s responsibility of learning in school. He added that, while there are no imposed due dates, consequences of late deliveries of activities will reflect on the grades of the learners.
Later on, two of our classmates arrived late, and were asked to introduce themselves as a consequence. Lastly, the session ended with our instructor grouping us into four, and gave us a task to make a documentation about what happened in the orientation.
