Today was another productive day for us as Sir Baroro used his two-hour schedule efficiently by giving us clear instructions and insights about our upcoming activities.
First, he gave us our guidebook for the upcoming 2026 CHARTS International Conference, which would also be part of our midterm and final project. Sir Baroro assigned our whole section to be part of the technical team/committee for the event. We were instructed to serve for two days and take our assigned responsibilities seriously.
Sir explained to us what we needed to know before the conference because we were not just going there to attend. We also had responsibilities as students and as part of the technical team. He introduced the plans for both days. For the first day, only ten students were needed. Each of the four groups would have two representatives, making eight students who would be assigned to control the cameras at the New Provincial Capitol, while the other two would stay at the Loom to supervise the livestreaming. For Day 2, all 29 students would be required to serve. Since there would be different venues, our groups would be divided depending on where we were assigned.
For the main conference, our phones would actually be important because we would use their cameras to take videos for the livestream and document what was happening during the event. We were reminded to bring chargers because we would be recording continuously. Every two hours, we would also need to switch phones so that the livestream could continue while the previous phone had time to rest and recharge.Some of our classmates will be assigned to online connections and livestreaming operations, while others will be assigned to projection and multimedia presentations. There would also be different numbers of laptops needed at different times, so proper coordination with each other would be important.
After discussing the conference preparations, Sir started discussing Module 2: Information and Communication Technology (ICT). We learned that ICT helps us share and manage information faster, especially when it comes to research and other activities. One simple example that stood out toย us was how a large pile of papers can be compressed and stored in something as small as a USB. It really shows how technology makes storing, accessing, and sharing information much easier.
To end, August 3 was a very busy day for us. We were preparing not only for the CHARTS conference but also for the responsibilities that came with being part of the technical team. At first, it felt like there was a lot to rememberโvenues, assignments, attendance, documentation, cameras, chargers, and equipment. However, I think the conference would also be a good experience for us because we would be able to apply what we learn in class to an actual event. Learning another module also added to our knowledge, making the day tiring but still worth it.
